Awakening happens in a fraction of a fraction of a second and mastery of the endless gyrations of mind takes a lifetime. The moment you are willing to take a deep look into the depth of your heart, a profound and mysterious transformation begins to take place. This transformation has a physical, mental, and emotional aspect. It can evoke the deepest sadness, rage, and fear—any emotion that has been suppressed throughout your life will suddenly, and sometimes with an unexplainable vengeance, push up from the depths to be released.
This release can be experienced as the floodgates opening or an ancient seal being broken open or even feel like falling off of a cliff. Living a life of freedom is the end of postponement—it is the deepest meeting of what is always here right now. It is lives in the willingness to accept your life right now exactly as it is free of any story in your mind of who you think you are or what you think your life means, or will mean, or doesn’t mean. It is a deep meeting of the emptiness that lives inside of you and all around you.
We can think of living a life of freedom as doing what we want to do, but freedom is not about what you are doing or not doing or what you plan to do or be or have or what you are feeling or any state of consciousness. Freedom is free of all feelings and it is free of the sensation that you are the doer.

Setting Yourself Free of the Suffering of Mind

The mind is a powerful force within you that has the capacity to keep you bound or set you free—the choice ultimately is yours. An undirected mind can trap you in the endless internal conversation with yourself that has the power to extend your pain over time. This is the fundamental nature of suffering. However, the mind directed to its source is like a laser sword that has the infinite power to cut through any suffering, any trap, or limitation of mind.
